Establishing a Web Presence
This is the third in a series of post about How To Make Money While You Sleep that describes how to establish a presence on the web so that you can promote your offers.
Now many people get the wrong idea about establishing themselves online in order to sell products and services.
Lets get this one out of the road up-front:
When most people talk about Establishing A Web Presence that can take many forms as follows:
- Banner Advertising;
- Social Media Accounts
So why do all the Guru’s out there tell newbies to go out and create their own websites?
Well its an advanced technique and perhaps adds to the amount of overwhelm that newbies to the industry feel.
The only reason you want to create your own website is Branding.
It is all about establishing Brand You, that is establishing you as an Authority in your field. It is a long-term strategy as it takes time to build Authority and Credibility with your target market.
But if you are just getting started in this industry you absolutely don’t need it so you can save yourself the expense and steep learning curve associated with it.
Now getting back to the basics the hard won lesson I learned recently is that if you want to sell online all you actually need are
- Feeder Sites; and
- a Squeeze Page (AKA Landing Page AKA Lead Capture Page), that then leads into a Sales Funnel.
And it doesn’t even have to be your Squeeze Page and Sales Funnel although there are good reasons for having it hosted on your own site.
Many of the affiliate programs you can join online already provide these Squeeze Pages and they are hosted on their servers. This saves you a lot of expense in hiring people to go create all the graphics, the web page, setup the hosting, etc. All you then need to do is have an affiliate link and drive traffic to that affiliate link. See what I mean about not having to have your own website to sell online.
So what are Feeder Sites. Well its basically everything I listed earlier as peoples popular belief of what your web presence constitutes, i.e Social Media accounts, Blogs, Forums, etc These are all examples of Feeder Sites. A Feeder site is any site that can Drive Traffic to your Squeeze Page and ultimately into your Sales Funnel.
It is the Sales Funnel where the money is made up-front but it is the e-mail list that your Squeeze Page creates that is where your long term money is made. The e-mail list is a long term proposition because you have to build a relationship with your e-mail list in order to make sales and that takes time.
A Squeeze Page is simply a page with the following ingredients:
- an eye catching headline;
- a Call To Action;
- a place to capture an e-mail address and perhaps a first name
The Squeeze Page needs to have a clear Call To Action on it to guide people as to what they need to do next once they land on this page in order to progress to your Offer. i.e. To Gain Instant Access To This Offer Enter Your First Name And Best E-Mail Address In The Form Below.
The Sales Funnel will be covered in detail in Part 4 of this series.
